Civil Ceremonies
A Civil Ceremony provides the couple with a “Marriage Certificate” which legally binds the bride and groom.For foreign couples it requires that you be in Malta or Gozo for a minimum of two full working days prior to the wedding ceremony amongst the other legal documents which need to be submitted to the registry not more than three months before and not less than six weeks before the wedding date.

Same Sex Weddings
On the 14th of April 2014, the Government of Malta approved the legislation for Civil Unions, meaning that now same sex marriages can be legally held in Malta.
