Castelo de Portuzelo
The castle is 40 minutes from the airport of Porto, with a wide range of cultural visits near the city center. You will love this place because of the location, the outdoor areas and the environment, as well as the unique construction. The accommodation is great for families (with children) and large groups of friends who want to disconnect in a quiet environment, 2 km from the city center, beaches, golf courses and possibilities for sightseeing to centers of interest. It is a Manueline style building that has elements from the twelfth to the early nineteenth century. It has an approximate area of 2000 m2, distributed on two floors and a tower. Access to the first floor is through a stone staircase that starts from a hall, from which you access the chapel, on the right hand side and a living room of about 50 m2 on the left. It consists of 12 bedrooms, although the bedrooms we offer are 9 (most of them approximately 50m2) with en suite bathrooms and two of them with a fireplace. Three rooms, two dining rooms, kitchen, toilets, hall, chapel and auxiliary dependencies. On the lower floor is located the hall, the chapel, the start of the staircase to the first floor, a room that communicates with a dining room, another living room, connected to another dining room, a bedroom with bathroom, kitchens and auxiliary units. On the first floor there is a hall, a living room and the 9 bedrooms en suite. The tower is accessed by a staircase from the first floor, which is divided into two rooms in two heights (with a bathroom in each). That are closed to the public. The garden has an area of about 17,000 m2, with its most outstanding elements: the manuelino-style watchtower, the pigeon loft, the fountain of the 16th century and the tunnel that gives access to the courtyard to which the main facade of the property. In the garden there are a great variety of ornamental trees: orange, lemon, olive, chestnut, palm, cypress, walnut, fig tree... etc. There is also an outdoor pool of 17x8 m approx and sufficient capacity for parking of vehicles. The access to the farm is through a typical Portuguese cobblestone road, between high stone walls in a rural setting, with olive trees and small chapels at the crossroads of the roads. From the first floor of the Castle you can see the Lima River and from the tower its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean.
