Castello di Spessa Resort, via Spessa 1, Capriva del Friuli, Italy,
The origins of the castle date back to 1200, but there are many signs of settlements since Roman times. From the sixteenth century, illustrious families alternated in the Spessa property: first Dornberk, then the Rassauer and Della Torre Valsassina family, even boasting a descent from Charlemagne, owned it for more than three hundred years.
Over the centuries here have stayed eminent personalities, such as Lorenzo Da Ponte and Emanuele Filiberto of Aosta, while in 1773 here was hosted Giacomo Casanova, the famous writer and adventurer, to whom is dedicated the well-known Prix which is held every summer since 2003. visit website
In 1987 the Castle of Spessa, together with the vineyards, was bought by the Pali family, becoming the very heart of a beautiful Wine Resort.
