HOW RUBIJOY STARTED

  Hi, I'm Sandra Dodds, the owner and founder of Rubijoy. I am South African and have lived in France for twenty years. My husband is French and is a wine maker on a bio dynamic wine farm not far from us. We have two young children and live in rural village in the Aude Department of France. 

  Mother Earth is my best friend, and as a family, we are firm nature lovers. Our vegetable garden and orchard keep us busy year round, and I love cooking, walking in nature and interior decoration. With a history in product development, marketing, wine export and fashion accessories, I have always had a love for design and décor. When I was planning my own wedding a few years ago, I wanted mismatched crockery and vintage decorations, but couldn't find anything like that for hire in this area. 

  So a year before my wedding, I began visiting vintage shops and vide greniers (similar to car boot sales, and literally meaning "to empty the attic"), and lovingly collected, washed, up-cycled and coordinated the items I'd purchased into the perfect look for our wedding. I also loved planning every detail of our wedding, and (crazily in retrospect) planned and executed almost every detail myself. I soon realised that I had found my passion, and have since established a career that allows me to share my passion and experience in event planning in the Occitanie region of France, where I am based.
